This isn't a blog, at least not in the usual sense. A blog is a stream of finished, polished posts. A garden is different — things grow here at different speeds, some tidy, some half-weeded, and that's fine. I'm borrowing the term "digital garden" from people who've written about it far better than I could, but the short version is: this is a space for tending ideas and tools over time, not a highlight reel.
The principle I'm trying to follow is what some call the "open garage door." My garage is a workshop where I build things — woodworking projects, the odd computer build, soldering, Arduino projects. The idea is simple: you leave the door up while you're building something, so neighbors and people walking by can see what you're working on. They stop by, ask what it's going to be, and sometimes offer an idea you hadn't considered. The point isn't that the thing itself is unfinished — it's that you don't wait until it's completely done before anyone gets to see it. You show it as it takes shape, get input along the way, and keep refining it from there.
That's roughly how this site is organized, too:
CasparCG and Broadcast Tools are guides and tools I built during an earlier, more hands-on chapter of my career, when I worked directly with broadcast graphics systems as a specialist. These days I'm on the project management side, with broader responsibility for crew and equipment across a much larger slate of events rather than hands-on delivery work — so I won't be actively expanding these collections. But the door's still open on them. If something here saves you the afternoon that someone else's notes once saved me, that's exactly what I'd hoped for.
Notes is the newer, more active collection — where I'm now writing about the things that occupy my current role: coordinating people and equipment across dozens of events a year, the small systems and habits that make that manageable, and whatever else seems worth thinking through in public. It's younger and messier than the archive, which feels about right for something still being figured out.
